Happy 6 Months, Aubrey!

Our little girl is growing up way too fast (both in fact)!  I wish you could slow time down. I am definitely not ready for Aubrey to be crawling around or pulling herself up on things which is only a couple months away I'm sure.

Of course, we celebrated with a cupcake, which Aubrey thoroughly enjoyed sucking the frosting off. She had a sweet potato cupcake.

6 Months Update:
1. Still no teeth
2. Wearing size 6-9 months and in Old Navy brand she can fit in all of their 6-12 month stuff
3. Has a cold
4. Scooting around to get toys
5. Likes fruits and veggies, not a fan of the meats though (stage 1 baby foods)
6. Happy girl
7. Sleeping a max of 7 hours some nights (Mommy loves those nights)
8. Still breastfed (I'm thankful for this because by this time Natalie was on formula already)

Thanksgiving 2012 recap

Let's see if I can catch up here!  I still have Aubrey's 6-month update to do, so be looking for that soon.

We had a really nice Thanksgiving with our families in South Bend. Lunch was spent at my parent's house, followed by dinner at Bobby's parent's house. Lots of food! We have so much to be thankful for, we really have such a blessed life that I think we often take for granted.

 

 






For Black Friday, there were only a few things that I wanted to get for Natalie, but little did I know the boxes were huge! My mom was kind enough to get up super early and meet me at 5am!  My alarm went off, but I snoozed it so I got up a little late with no time to shower, put on makeup...only time to brush my teeth and change clothes. We went to 4 places: Home Depot, Lowes, the mall, and Sams Club. We only had to wait in line at Sams Club for 7 minutes or so until they opened. None of the things I picked up were a hot commodity, so they were easy to get. We barely fit in the car though...

 

Back around Easter, I won a free photography shoot and was super excited to use it!  However, it was FREEZING and Bobby was more interested in chasing Rusty around who had gotten a turkey bone and when inside the house, Natalie was anti-picture. Needless to say, it didn't go quite as planned. I was hoping to use a picture for our Christmas card, and I haven't seen them all yet, but I don't know if we took one good enough. The one family picture I have seen is good, but Natalie has a weird face, coat is on and she is missing a shoe...ugh. Oh well, here are a sample:

On Sunday, we went to Hensler's Nursery to get a Christmas tree with my parents and Bobby's parents.  We ended up spending $65 on a tree that we will throw away at the end of the season, but the experience is worth it. It's a cute little place. We spent almost 3 hours there and little did we know Natalie was feeling crummy. We just thought she was tired since she hadn't eaten anything for breakfast. After we left, we took her temp and it was 103.6!  Poor girl!  We felt awful.

We gave her some medicine and she slept most of the way home. Luckily Aubrey hasn't gotten it yet, just the cold part! We took Natalie to the doctor Monday and she was put on an antibiotic. She had a fever all night and we actually thought about taking her to the ER, but it finally broke this morning. I hope it stays away because she is just so pathetic when she is sick.

 

 

Natalie's 1st Haircut

I decided to take Natalie for her 1st haircut today and she did awesome! She wasn't squirmy and she didn't cry or whine. She was so good the stylist gave us 1/2 off and Natalie got a sucker! I wasn't going to keep her hair but the lady gave me some in an envelope anyway! I was so proud of her!

1st Cold and 1st Paid Babysitter

Both girls have colds...'tis the season!  This is Aubrey's 1st cold and so far she is actually doing pretty good with it. She has been sleeping for 6-7 hours for the past couple nights. The first night she did that I didn't sleep that time because I was worried she wasn't breathing, but she was!  I hope this sleeping pattern continues because I would sure like to start sleeping like a normal person again and not getting up ever 3 hours.

Friday night, we had the opportunity to go to a fundraising event for the Children's Museum, so we had to find a last-minute babysitter. All of our normal "go-to" babysitters were busy...of course because it was last-minute and a Friday. However, one of our friends had a babysitter already scheduled to watch their kids for a date night and the babysitter agreed to let our kids join in on the fun. We know the girl's mom, so we felt comfortable enough. This was the first time we've paid someone to watch our girls that we don't know all that well. Any other time we've had our friends watch the girls and they never let us pay them.  Aubrey gave her a little trouble about an hour before we were going to pick the girls up, but overall they both did well.

We had fun at the circus-themed event. They had a couple circus acts that performed, games to play, raffle, food, drinks, and a gypsy fortune teller. We don't really believe in the fortune teller/psychic stuff, but it was fun to do regardless. Bobby's cards said that if there is something he has been asking for, he needs to be specific and make a list; otherwise what he wants may not be exactly what he wants.  My cards had a lot to deal with peace (which I need desperately), that I am strong, and that I have a guardian angel watching over me, which the gypsy said she felt it was a female presence like a grandmother or aunt, so naturally I thought about my Grandma Porman and my Aunt Dixie. She said the guardian angel(s) is guiding me through all changes/up and downs in my life. Regardless of what I believe, I thought the reading was neat, but Bobby and I both agree that really whatever cards you draw, they are so vague that you could probably relate the reading to anything in your life.

The next day, we went to the museum again because we had gotten free passes to take the girls. We ended up being there for 2 hours and had a lot of fun!

I've been getting crafty lately...or at least trying. Thanks to Pinterest, I was able to come up with holiday shirt ideas for the girls and 2x4 crafts since we have a ton of scrap wood from the basement. I asked Bobby to teach me how to use his new mitre saw, which is actually pretty easy. Bobby was nervous I may cut off my hand, but I obviously didn't. He was so impressed/surprised, he was taking pictures of me using it...haha!

My next crafty attempt is to sew some ruffle pants for the girls...I hope I can pull it off!
