Natalie's Newest Tricks

Natalie has a few more tricks up her sleeve lately...

1. She can clap!

2. She can wave bye-bye...sometimes. Most of the time it looks like she is waving to herself :)

3. She can climb our basement steps all by herself (with someone behind her of course).

4. She can walk behind her Princess car with only someone in front of it to slow it down since it goes pretty fast if she does it on her own.

Happy Thanksgiving!

Happy 1st Thanksgiving!

We usually make the trip up to the South Bend to spend time with both of our families, but this year was a little different from the norm. This year, Bobby is on-call, so we had to stay in town. My family made the trip down to Terre Haute and are here for the whole weekend. Natalie slept through her 1st Thanksgiving, but did get to experience some sweet potato souflee, mashed potatoes and gravy, and a bite of cranberry/fruit jello for dinner.

Natalie has enjoyed having all the extra attention and Mommy has enjoyed having others entertain her as well :)

Happy Thanksgiving to all of our family and friends! We have been so blessed this year!

I am thankful...Day 22, Day 23

Day 22: I am thankful for being able to hear baby #2's heartbeat today!  In 4 weeks, we find out if Miss Natalie will be a big sister to a little brother or little sister...on my birthday (hopefully baby #2 cooperates)!

Day 23: I am thankful that my family was able to make the trip down to Terre Haute to spend Natalie's 1st Thanksgiving with us since Bobby is on call this week and weekend. We have so many blessings to be thankful for this year!

I am thankful for...Day 22

I am thankful for baby laughs. Natalie was very giggly today and was cracking up with Bobby in her room. I love her little laugh!

I am thankful for...Day 19, 20, 21

Day 19: I am thankful for the ability to live in our new home, while still maintaining our mortgage on our old home (praying it will sell soon!)  Our new home allows us the extra room we needed with lots of room to grow!

Day 20: I am thankful for being able to watch our church service online since Natalie slept in on Sunday morning (as well as me) and Bobby had the carseat anyway since he had to be at church at 8a when it didn't start until 10a.

Day 21: I am thankful for a healthy, full of energy, smiley, happy baby girl who changed our lives for the better and is taking us on the adventure of our lives!  I could just stare at her all day!

9 Month Check-Up!

Today, Natalie went to the doctor for her 9 month well check appointment!  I thought she was going to have to get a bunch of shots, but I was wrong, only her flu shot (which is controversial in our household between Bobby and I). Then, she goes back the beginning of January (can't believe I'm typing that month already) for her flu booster shot. Then, she doesn't have to go back to the doctor until a week after her 1st birthday in February...makes me kind of sad that she is going to be turning 1 so soon!

Natalie's stats for the day:

Weight: 17 pounds 3 ounces (between 10 and 25 percentile)

Height: 27 inches (25 percentile)

Natalie checked out well for the rest of her check-up. The doctor recommended that we give Natalie 1/2 teaspoon of Zyrtec daily due to her chronic runny nose and slight congestion (although her lungs sound clear). However, Bobby opted to vacuum out the vents and is going to change the furnace filter because of all the drywall dust still in this house since it's new construction. However, if this doesn't resolve it, we will try Zyrtec.

She was a trooper with her shot today, she wailed as soon as she got it, but then as soon as I picked her up she was all better!

She was good all day long...she woke up earlier than normal, but I fed her while still laying in our bed, then she cuddled with me a bit since she was still pretty sleepy from waking up so soon. She took a short nap before heading to the doctor and took a short nap while we ran errands in the afternoon. We met up with Bobby and Adam (Bobby's co-worker) for lunch then finished up most of her errands.

She went to sleep a little after 7p and hasn't woken up yet (it's almost 11p). I thought for sure she would be up by at least 10p since she didn't take a bottle before bedtime like usual...I must have worn her out with all the errand-running.

Natalie now has tooth #5 (bottom left) and is working on #6 (top left). Her mouth will be a little lopsided now, but I'm sure she will have some more coming in very soon!

Natalie, we love you so much!  You are so much fun and we love your little laugh, cute smile, cuddly self (when you aren't on-the-go), and your sense of adventure (already)!

I am thankful for...Day 18

Today I am thankful for Bobby. He is great at calling and getting things resolved (usually with his internet/technology things) so I don't have to deal with them!  He's great at getting things thrown in for free or basically so cheap you can't pass it up.

Especially today I am thankful that he set up my eye doctor appointment after he had gone to his follow-up appointment. I haven't been to the eye doctor in probably over 2 years and I have the worst eyes out of both of us! He has 20/20...and I don't even know what I am...basically blind in my right eye (not really, but I feel like it) and left eye is great (hopefully Natalie inherits her daddy's vision)!  I had noticed when I was pregnant with Natalie that my right eye had gotten A LOT worse...if I covered my left eye and only looked with my right I could not see anything!  However, they say that when you are pregnant your vision can change and may go back after giving birth, well my sight never changed. So, when I went today, although my eyes are both very healthy, my right eye had changed tremendously from my eyeglass prescription over at least 2 years!  I hate wearing my glasses because you constantly have to readjust them, so I just never really wear them unless I have them in the car while I'm driving at night. I now have contacts in and go back in 2 weeks to see how the contacts are doing and if any adjustments need to be made.

So, thank you Bobby for setting up my appointment and making me go! I can now see like a "normal" person now!

Happy 9 Months!

I can't believe that Natalie is already 9 months old!  It does not seem possible!

She was better today for pictures as far as mood goes, but not when it comes to sitting still. I don't even think she knows how to sit still! Her crawling is getting faster and faster by the day!

Things she is doing at 9 months:

1. She is right on track as far as clothing goes...right in the 6-9 month clothing. Still is Size 3 diapers and will be for awhile.

2. She walks along furniture pretty good these days.

3. She is a maniac when it comes to crawling.

4. She has a little "corral" as I call it that when I need her to stay out of stuff while I am doing stuff, I have used her exersaucer and the ottoman to "rope" off an area that I call 'Natalie's toyland'.

5. She loves to still go up to the entertainment center and open/close the doors. We had a "babyproof" contraption on it, but she quickly realized how to take it off, so now there are rubberbands on the doors to hold them together. However, this afternoon I saw her trying to 'gnaw' the rubberband off (unsuccessfully).

6. She has 4 teeth and is working on more we believe since we've had a couple of grumpy nights lately.

7. She is mainly on stage 3 baby foods, as well as giving her soft table foods. She LOVED pancakes the other morning at IHOP.

8. Her favorite toys: hammer (can't seem to find it at the moment) and socks.

9. No new words, but she is loving "talking" nowadays.

10. She loves music shows on TV, whether they have dancing, singing, or both. She quickly becomes engrossed in them if she catches a glimpse of them on TV. She also does love Family Feud (I think it's the blinking lights on the main board that catches her eye).

11. She is always such a happy baby (most of the time) and is laughing or smiling. At daycare, she is probably the happiest baby there out of the 3.

12. I can definitely see her spunkiness coming out...we are in trouble for sure!

13. She no longer (and hasn't for a couple months) uses her baby bathtub. She takes baths in the big girl tub, which of course she loves!  Our little waterbug!

We don't go to the doctor for her 9 month check-up until Monday...height and weight stats coming soon!

Since today is Day 19 of being thankful...I am thankful for NATALIE, of course!

Wish they were in focus!

Playing tug of war...

Crazy baby!

Can I chew these off?

I am thankful for...Day 16

Today I am thankful that all of Natalie's poopy diapers...all FOUR poopy diapers...happened while she was at daycare today...haha! Maybe that's why her tummy didn't feel too good last night and she woke up a couple of times. Hopefully tonight goes better...so far, so good!

I am thankful for...Day 14, 15

Day 14...I am thankful for Mondays I have no appointments or anywhere to go, just get to stay home with my baby girl!

Day 15...I am thankful for my job on days when all my patients can be seen and no one cancels and I am running on time (which I do most days).

Today at daycare, Natalie only took 1 45 minute nap which while she was in her crib she took off her socks (like usual) and today decided she wanted to take her pants off as well, and was swinging them around in the air. Her pictures from last week supposedly didn't turn out (as well as a few other kids) due to a 'camera malfunction.' So she will have picture re-takes next Tuesday. Thank goodness it wasn't today because her hair was a crazy mess since she is such a wild sleeper!

Natalie's newest things are being obsessed with playing with Daddy's bottom lip. She loves just to grab it and pull it down...she will do it for awhile before she moves on to his ears!  She also now loves to stand up at the window and pull on the blinds, as well as pull herself up on the TV stand and touch the screen. She is one crazy 'almost' 9 month old!  She definitely keeps us on our toes!

Happy girl...her hair can finally hold a barrette, that is until she pulls it out!

Naughty baby!

I am thankful for...Day 11, 12, 13

I'm slacking here!

Day 11: I am thankful for all the Veteran's that have served our country and for the sacrifice they make every day to keep our country free and safe...in honor of Veteran's Day 11-11-11

Day 12: I am thankful for lazy Saturdays where we have no place to go and nothing in particular to do (even though we have plenty to do...just nothing on a timeline).

Day 13: I am thankful for the 2 offers we have received on our old house (STILL for sale)...just wish they both would have been solid offers with serious bidders!  Just thankful we are doing well with holding 2 mortgages for now!

I am thankful for...Day 10

Today I am thankful that I can be a part-time stay-at-home mommy!  It is so nice to have Friday through Monday to spend with Natalie! Not many jobs are as flexible as mine...

Today was "picture day" at daycare. They said Natalie got some great photos, so I can't wait to see them!  Here is a preview of what she wore today...

I can't believe our baby will be 9 months in a week from today!  Doesn't seem possible!

I am thankful for...Day 9

I am thankful for good health...for myself and my family. I often have patients come onto my schedule that have such bad luck with health problems, especially my cancer patients. It's so easy to get caught up with our daily schedules, that we sometimes take the simplest things for granted...like our health!

I am thankful for...Day 8

I am thankful that we found a great daycare that I feel Natalie is safe at while I am at work. However, today she got bit on the back :(  From the story I got, sounds like she wasn't being supervised well while being the only baby there and being in the 1's and 2's room. Poor girl!  Bobby thinks I should have made a stink about it, but because this is the first incident, I felt as though if it happens again, I will say more, but until then, I hope it won't happen again.

Maybe Bobby will consider me being a stay-at-home mom now...haha!  I doubt that, but wishful thinking:)

I am thankful...Day 7

Today I am thankful for Skype. If it wasn't for Skype, Natalie would not be able to see my parents very often. Of course nothing is like seeing someone in person and being able to cuddle with her, but at least they get a little glimpse of her daily life most days!

I am thankful for...Day 6

I am thankful that Natalie is such a good little traveler!  With all the trips we make up to South Bend (3.5/4 hours on a normal trip), she is so great and we very rarely have to stop because of her. Today, we headed back to Terre Haute and she slept for the first 3 hours and woke up happy. She is such a good and happy baby...we are so blessed!

I am thankful for...Day 5

This weekend, we headed up to South Bend so Bobby could attend his friend's dad's Celebration of Life gathering and so that I could visit my longtime childhood friend who just had a baby 5 weeks ago, as well as another longtime childhood friend who has 1 1/2 year old.

Day 5...I am thankful for longtime childhood friends that although we live far apart, we are able to get together at least a few times a years to visit and catch up. I wish we lived closer and got to see each other more often, but it's nice to know these friendships have lasted all these years.

I am thankful for...Day 4

Today I am thankful for Natalie's wonderful sleeping habits lately. She tends to sleep 10-12 hours a night and usually takes wonderful naps!  Even with both of her top teeth now in, no one would have known she was teething!

I am thankful for...Day 3

I am thankful for my wonderful husband (even if he does drive me crazy at times)!  He is a great father to Natalie. He loves her so much (as I knew he would). He's not afraid to get his hands dirty or put holes in the wall :)  But, all kidding aside, I can't imagine spending this adventure, we call life, with anyone else. He is a great provider and supporter. We are so blessed to have him in our lives!

Happy 29th Birthday, Bobby!

I am thankful for...Day 2

I am thankful for the beautiful Fall weather we are having (even if it is supposed to rain tomorrow). It is sunny and mild temperatures...couldn't ask for a better beginning to November!

I am thankful for...Day 1

So, today is November 1st and on Facebook there is a Give Thanks challenge to be done each day leading up to Thanksgiving. I have seen this on Facebook for a couple years now and I never really participate even though I think it's a great idea, so I decided this year to try to blog at least 1 thing I am thankful for each day. I think it will be a great way to reflect on the small things in life that I often forget...

Day 1: I am thankful for God's humor in my life!  He tends to place things/events in my life that I often don't know how I will handle it, but for some reason things usually always work out for the best!  God definitely had a sense of humor with this pregnancy since Natalie and her brother/sister will be only 15 months apart...Eeek!  I don't know how we will do this, but we will just take life as it comes! There is nothing sweeter than the blessing of a baby!
