Crazy, Busy Saturday

I don't know if we could have fit anything else into our Saturday!  Here is what our schedule looked like for the day:

8a: get up and get ready
9a: leave the house for Bark in the Park
9:30-11:30: Bark in the Park
12:15: lunch
1:30-3:30: girls napping, Bobby cleaning garage, Brandi doing a photo shoot
4-5: cookout for co-ed softball (I actually get to play this year...yay!)
5-6: drive to Raccoon Lake
6-8: boating at Raccoon Lake (fun!)
8-8:45: play in Raccoon Lake
9-9:45: drive home

The girls did awesome all day!  It definitely helped that naptime was doable today, otherwise the story may have been very different!

Bark in the Park is something we try to do every year because it's a fundraiser for local Humane Society. There were about the same amount of people this year it seemed, but a couple meaner dogs...normally there aren't any incidents, but this year, a pitbull mix kept starting fights with a few other dogs.  Rusty enjoyed himself and was pooped afterwards. I didn't take the double stroller because Natalie wants to walk a lot, but I guess I should have brought it because she asked often to be carried...oops!

I got to take pictures of these adorable little boys!  So cute!

Boating was a blast!  The 2 hours went by super quick and although the boat definitely needs a new motor or something, we all still have lots of fun!  Natalie was in a bad mood to start, but towards the end she liked it. Aubrey got tired towards the end, but she loved it!

We even got to play in the water for a little bit, per Natalie's request!

Sewing Class

I had my 2nd night of sewing class tonight...I'm loving it!  So far, we have made a pin cushion, 2 pillow cases, and 2 drawstring bags. I also learned how to applique as well!  Now all I need is a sewing machine!  Next week is the last class and we are making pajama pants. The last time I took a sewing class was probably middle school when it was required.

The girls loved their pillowcases!  I took them to pick out their fabric, not that Aubrey could really understand what she was doing, but Natalie got to pick out of Dora, Princess, and Hello Kitty. I was actually surprised she picked out the Princesses instead of Dora, but she does claim Aubrey's Elmo pillow too...haha!

 Here is the story on this picture...so, I was getting ready to give Natalie and Aubrey a bath and as I was taking out Natalie's hair ties, I felt something and then looked down and there was a bug!!!!  I immediately called to Bobby (who conveniently went outside at that time as I was freaking out). While I was at my sewing class, Bobby and the girls were playing outside, so I just thought it was a beetle or something. Bobby got it out and you will never guess what it was...

I've been getting up early in the mornings lately to run with Rebekah, which surprisingly I don't mind. I don't really like getting up, but I like that it's cooler and then our run is done and over with.

Wedding Weekend

We were up north this weekend for my cousin's wedding. It was a beautiful wedding and we had fun. However, Aubrey was not a happy camper all weekend. She was just really fussy with a low grade fever. I didn't get to stay and watch the ceremony because as soon as it started, Aubrey started crying. The crying went well into the reception until my mom got her to fall asleep (thank goodness for Grandma), then Bobby brought in her carseat for her to sleep in.

Natalie on the other hand had a great time. At first, when the music started, she cried and wanted to go outside because she said the music was too loud, but it didn't take her long and she was out dancing the rest of the night. She also met a little friend named Lydia who is about 3 months older than her. They had a blast!

Today, before we were headed back to Terre Haute, Natalie and my dad found a baby toad in the yard!  This little guys bring back so many childhood memories...I LOVE baby toads!  This time, Natalie actually allowed the toad to be in her hand!

I'm surprised Aubrey didn't kill it!  :P

Atopic Dermatitis

...that is the official diagnosis from the dermatologist we saw Thursday.  He never even named it eczema. By the way, I was quite impressed that our appointment was at 3:45p and we were home by 4:25p. We saw Dr. Singh and I would definitely go back to him. Bobby had gone to him before and liked him, and I see why. Basically, atopic dermatitis is a generic term for inflammation of the skin that didn't fall into a specific category for skin problems. I've heard this term before, but I'm not sure if it was when I had some skin problems back in middle school/high school?! Very high possibility. So, here is a list of his recommendations for Natalie:

1. Desonide steroid cream...Natalie has been prescribed this a few times and each time we get it, the pharmacist always tells Bobby that we can't use it more than 10 days because of it's side effects. However, when I mentioned this to the doctor, he said "They didn't go to medical school."  Valid point...I think/hope!  So, he said as long as she is having irritations, to apply the cream only once to the skin creases like elbows and knees, otherwise apply twice to all other areas.

2. Use Aveeno lotion...just the plain Aveeno lotion, daily when skin is moist, aka after a bath

3. Use Cetaphil body wash (gave me samples) and if I don't care for that, use Dove.

4. Use All laundry detergent

5. Take 1/4 tsp of Zyrtec during typical allergy season...Spring to Fall. Not sure how I feel about this one since we've been there, done that. He also said we could use Claritin or Allegre.

6. Wear loose fitting light-colored cotton clothing (lighter colors have less dye)

7. Lukewarm baths for 5-10 minutes max.

So, I guess we'll see!

Yesterday, while I was mowing and the girls were on the swingset, then Bobby came home shortly, I found 2 toads. The girls were all about them!  However, Natalie didn't want to touch the toad...every time Bobby would try and put it in her palm, she would squeal and run away. Aubrey, on the other hand, needed to be controlled so she didn't either squeeze the frog to death or pull it's legs off...haha!  I find it funny that Natalie is all about getting dirty, but when it came to the toad she acted like a little diva :)  I like that her personality has a good mix of "princess-like" and "tomboy-like" qualities!
