Tropical Flowers

While Bobby recently went on a spiritual leadership trip to Key West, Florida and I was home with the three kiddos, sick and Austin and Natalie being sick, he decided to send us a piece of paradise by sending this flower bouquet to us, which I thought was thoughtful of him. Thank goodness for my mom coming down midweek! It was definitely a long week in Terre Haute, but we all survived!

Escape Room Indianapolis

If you haven't tried out the Escape Room, it's a lot of fun!  Three of us couples went up to Indy for the day/evening, kid-free! Thanks to my parents for holding down the fort and watching our three, plus Kyle and Cadence! They took all 5 kiddos to lunch, then the girls to Landon and Lucy's birthday party, painted Easter eggs, then all 5 kids to Bogey's for fun and pizza! My parents were exhausted, but we very much appreciate their willingness to do this!

My mom took some pictures of the kids painting Easter eggs, but I had the settings on my camera on for an outside picture, so I tried to lighten these up, but we'll just say we were going for a more vintage look! Thanks for mom for thinking about me and taking pictures of the kids doing this!!

When we booked the room that had a max of 8 people, we were hoping that another couple we know could go, but they couldn't make it work, so it was filled with a random couple we knew nothing about. Come to find out, they were on a blind date!!! The first time they had ever met was the same time we met them all! We made it out of the room with 12 minutes to spare and had a blast! We were already talking about doing it again sometime!  If you have never heard of it, I recommend you check it out here!  We did the Hoosier Hysteria room which is a great beginners level.

Afterwards, we had a drink at the Slippery Noodle, then headed to our dinner reservations at Fogo de Chao. After Fogo, we walked the canal for a bit (but it was COLD) and then headed to Starbucks. The 3 of us girls road together while the boys rode together in the other car. It was a great day away from all the kiddos so we could actually just relax and enjoy each other's company before the Vandiver's move away!

Upward Soccer Wrap-Up

The girls finished out their soccer season! For our first year with Upward, we loved it and will definitely be signing up again! The outdoor league here in Terre Haute may be good for the older kiddos, but I wasn't very impressed with it at all after our experience with Upward.

We had practice once a week and a game every Saturday for the last 8 weeks at 8a or 9a in the morning! That was EARLY for us, but the girls did pretty well overall getting up early, especially after they were excited about running through the tunnel each game after the initial attitude of being scared of running through the tunnel after their name was announced. They were hoping they got to run out of the tunnel even at practices by the end of the season. Ha!

Each week, they had a devotional at practice and halftime of each game and learned about 4 virtues:

Self-Control
Contentment
Peace
Love

They prayed before each practice and game. I really loved this league, and the girls did too! At ages 3 and 4/5, they obviously have a lot to learn about soccer, but they enjoyed it and that's all that counts. I didn't take my 'big' camera until the last game mainly because I wanted to enjoy watching them and cheering them on. Thanks to the Vandivers and my parents for being their biggest supporters during their season!

I wish I had their enthusiasm and energy at 8am!

Praying before the game

Aubrey is probably most excited for the high-5's she receives rather than playing soccer! Haha!

...or picking her lips (constantly) instead of running after the ball

High-5's to her best bud, Landon!

Teaching good sportsmanship!

End of the Season Shoot-Out!

This girl...and her tongue!

The next afternoon was soccer awards, followed by an Easter egg hunt. Luckily, all three kiddos were very well behaved because it made for a LONG afternoon, but they enjoyed it even with no naps and no lunch! It was pure chaos!
