Busy Weekend

Saturday, we went to Bark in the Park. Not very often do we go to an event all for Rusty!  He has been kind of neglected lately now that we have the 2 girls. Plus, with summer being so extremely hot, we haven't taken him for a walk in ages it seems!  My parents made a spontaneous trip down very late Friday night and left after lunch on Saturday. This year was the 5th annual walk, and although I have lived here that long, I have never been able to go, but Bobby has gone twice with Rusty.

It is a 3-mile charity walk with all proceeds supporting the Human Society. I read that they raised $11,000 with the event. There were dogs of all shapes and sizes! The walk was very casual and I would say at least half of the people only did 1 out of the 3 laps and went home. We were going to do all 3, but by the time we got back to the area by the parking lot, they were already tearing down the start/finish line so we left after walking probably 2.5 miles I would say.

That night, we had a wedding to go to of one of Bobby's co-workers. I don't think we've been to a wedding since my sister's wedding over a year ago. Life tends to go in phases and right now I think we are in the baby phase since a lot of our friends are having babies. Our peak wedding season phase ended a couple years ago. Our friends, Matt and Alison came over to watch the girls and I decided to make them dinner at our house since they won't let us pay them, so I was running a little behind, but I was ready before Bobby and we made it to the wedding in just the nick of time. The wedding was super short and the reception was right after the ceremony. I got to meet Bobby's co-workers and their wives. We left around 9p since almost all of the guys Bobby works with left as well. I got up one time to do the Cupid Shuffle with a rep Bobby works with and we only got 2 other girls to dance with us, so we were pretty lonely out there on the dance floor :)

The girls did great for Matt and Alison. They have watched them (Natalie mostly) a lot so I wasn't worried at all. Natalie had tons of fun with Alison and Matt had the magic touch with Aubrey. Natalie got to finger paint with Alison and play a ton, too!

Sunday, we headed to Holiday World to meet up with the Bertram's. It was a perfect day...not too hot and not too cold. It wasn't overly crowded and Natalie had an awesome time!  We got there a little later than expected, and of course Aubrey wanted to eat when we pulled in the parking lot and also had a blow-out diaper, so that set us back a bit. I didn't dress Natalie in her bathing suit because I figured I would change her into it once we got to the waterpark, but the first kids area in the main park area that we went had a splash pad and of course that is the first place Natalie went. Her clothes were soaked, but that was okay because they dried out by the end of the day. Natalie absolutely LOVED the waterpark...is anyone surprised?!  She has no fears of water at all.

We met Santa Claus...Natalie wasn't too into it.

She also road a log ride all by herself with Ella...at first she was a little upset, but by the middle of the ride, she was fine and enjoyed it. She also got to ride the little carousel and the seahorse ride all by herself...such a big girl. She was still a little too short for some of the other kiddie rides. We all (including Aubrey) rode the big carousel, too. I think we were all surprised how long we actually stayed at the park. We were there for a total of 6 hours I think. With no nap and being in the fresh air, we couldn't have asked for Natalie to be any better. Same with Aubrey, she was mostly in the Moby wrap and mostly slept the entire day. I brought my camera with us, but Bobby discouraged me from taking it in the park, but Miranda brought her camera, so I can't wait to see the pictures she captured!

Here is a picture of Aubrey that Miranda captured, I think she has a striking resemblance to me in this picture!

It wasn't our usual trip to Holiday World since Miranda and I went on one ride, then Bobby and Adam were able to go on 2 rides. I knew it would be this way since we have both girls now, but we still had lots of fun playing with Natalie in the water and can't wait to go back next year!

Usually Natalie will fall asleep once the car starts moving when she is exhausted, but not today, she fell asleep as soon as Bobby put her in the car!

Surprisingly, Natalie only slept an hour into our trip home, but was overall good the rest of the way home except for the very end. We thought for sure she would sleep the entire way home!  Aubrey slept the entire trip except the end too. Got to love both girls whining/crying at the end of a long trip!

Natalie wants to start a new hairdo trend! :)
We had a great day!  What fun to cap off our summer! I officially head back to work next week which I am excited about going back, but it's still bittersweet. After my day today, I really am glad to go back. Aubrey was up every hour after 3am and to top that off, she cried from 8a until 12(noon)...well basically the whole day because as soon as I would get her to sleep, she would scream when I laid her down. Natalie was good today...thank goodness, but because I wasn't able to spend much or no one-on-one time with her, the house got pretty messy today with stuff EVERYWHERE!
