We celebrated my cousin's wedding a few weeks ago, but not without making it an adventure. We were thinking of leaving on Friday after our softball game, but decided to leave early Saturday instead. Good thing because our car lost all of it's oil on 465. Luckily the place we pulled of at had several car dealerships so we just went to the first one we saw. Of course it couldn't be an easy fix, so we got a rental and went on our way with 5 minutes to spare before the wedding started. It happened at a good time/place because we could have been stranded in the middle of nowhere in the middle of the night with two kids and a dog (oh...and we didn't have Rusty's leash). It was lunchtime so that entertained the girls for a bit. After having a rental car for a week when we could have returned it after only 3 days, but thought our car was being worked on in Indy since that was what we were being told...we have to pay for all but one day I believe because the car was really only worked on one day out of the 4 we thought it was being worked on...ugh. And...even though our car is now home from Indy after being "fixed" it has been in the shop in Terre Haute for another week trying to figure out what is wrong with it...at least this time the rental we got after our car had already been in the shop for 5 days is covered...for now. What a pain!
Natalie now wants to pick out her own clothes on occasion and usually it does not match at all :) At least she tries. She also has wanted to help wash dishes on occasion :)
A couple of weeks ago we had to make a trip to emergent care for Natalie. I was cooking dinner and she was outside playing and as soon as I heard the power 4-wheeler we have (sitting on the porch so it was out of the elements) I ran out the back door, but I was too late. Natalie rode it off of the porch and went head first into the metal patio chair. Of course it was bleeding (not horribly, but definitely had a good gash) and it swelled up immediately. She was of course crying and luckily Aubrey was being good and Bobby was on his way home. We decided to take her in to get it checked out at the after hours clinic where the doctor glued her cut back together and sent us on our way to get x-rays to see if it was broken...thank goodness it was not! Natalie was so brave and so good at the doctor office and for her x-rays. I felt bad for what happened, but it was an accident and the 4-wheeler is now disconnected whenever it is not in use!
A couple of weekends ago, Bobby and I ran in the Midnight River Run 5K. The race started at 11:15p. when I heard we had to run a hill twice, I psyched myself out and did horrible. I walked parts of it (including the hills both times). Between the pain in my foot (probably plantar fascitis) and no motivation, I really am not enjoying running lately at all. Bobby of course did well and placed in his age group.
Bobby - 23:46
Me - 31:43
Last weekend we went up to South Bend to celebrate Brielle and Jaxon's birthdays. It was at a roller skating rink, which was fun and different. I don't think I have been on roller skates for at least 18 years!! Natalie tried to skate for a little bit, but soon took her skates off, but Aubrey insisted on wearing her skates the entire party. Both of them had fun, too! Before the party, I met up with Jill to run her first 5K with her...Logan's Run 5K. She just completed the Couch to 5K program and has been doing awesome! She says she's not a runner, but she's a natural. When she sent me her most recent time, I knew there was no way currently I was going to be able to stay with her, but I tried for the first mile averaging an 8:40 pace which is unheard of for me lately. I slowed way down after that and even walked short bits. I was so happy for her! She says she isn't doing another one, but I think I will try to do this race again next year because it was a nice course and lots of fun stuff for the girls to do, so she'll at least have to do one a year :)
Me - 29:49 (at least I beat my time from the last race)
The next day, we headed to my parents' house to hang out, swim, and pick veggies from their garden.
We've been playing outside and Natalie is practicing her soccer skills. She does really well and I was going to sign her up to play this Fall since she is old enough, but the price seemed a bit steep for a 3 year old to just run around on a field, so for now we will practice in the yard and do swim lessons for 8 weeks instead.
I think that is all for now :)
