4 Month Check-Up

Natalie went to the doctor today for her 4 month check-up. She was very happy and smiley with the doctor, but had to get shots after the doctor was finished and of course was not happy after that :(  According to the doctor, she is in the 50th percentile in weight, height, and head circumference.

She now weighs 12 pounds, 14.4 ounces, 24 1/4 inches long, and head circumference of 41 centimeters. She is averaging a gain of 2.5 pounds every 2 months.

Since my milk supply is dwindling and I believe I have at least a month frozen, I discussed the next steps with the doctor. She recommended that when I need to, start supplementing with formula. She recommended Similac Advance since she says studies show it is the closest to breastmilk. Initially when I had Natalie, I wanted to breastfeed until she was 6 months, but at the slow down of my supply and the increase in her appetite, I'm hoping to make it to 5 months!

The doctor also said it is okay to start Natalie on rice cereal and at 5 months to start her on baby food, starting with veggies first so she doesn't develop a sweet tooth :) I'm sure she will definitely have a sweet tooth since Mommy sure does! Bobby and I were talking the other day and I realized that while I was pregnant I ate fruit smoothies like they were going out of style, but haven't had one really since I had Natalie. So, I'm sure she's going to love fruit!

Natalie goes back in 2 months for her 6 month check-up and her last round of shots for a little bit. I feel so bad for her when she has to get shots and drink the nasty rotovirus vaccine (it smells awful, so I'm sure it tastes even worse). Luckily, she is done with that one. She calmed down pretty quickly after giving her a bottle and is napping now.

We are so blessed to have such a healthy and happy baby girl!

Happy girl in the waiting room at the doctor office!

Poor girl! After shots...

Napping after a rough morning :)
