Christmas Tree Farm = FAIL

So, a tradition for as long as I can remember growing up was to go to a Christmas Tree Farm and cut down your own tree. Usually the places we went also had some Christmas decorations, alongwith hot chocolate or cider. Recently, the ones we went to had different activities/props for kids to get pictures with or play on.

My hope was that we would be able to start this tradition here in Terre Haute, as did friends that have a daughter a few months older than Natalie. Our plan was to go last weekend, but it rained all day. So, today we had the opportunity to go very late afternoon before dusk. However, once we arrived the guy greeted us and basically said they had no good trees left and they were pretty much done for the season, but that we were free to look around. They had LOTS of really nice looking trees behind a roped off area, but we were instructed that those trees were for next year's crop. This was a TON smaller than any tree farms I am used to in northern Indiana!

The group of many trees in the background (if you look closely you can see a white little sign) were for next year, so you can see there were slim pickings around here!
We did not get this tree, but had to take a picture of our experience (the trees left were pretty sad looking)!
After this tree farm (which looked the most promising online) we headed to a "tree farm" that Bobby found on his phone, which ended up to be another bust! I don't think it was an actual Christmas tree farm, but instead just a nursery that looked closed for the season and possibly had been closed for some time before that!

So...we wound up at a pre-cut tree stand in a parking lot (at least it had the festive large lights above) that had quite expensive trees, but we found one. Now we just need everything else...a tree stand, lights, more ornaments, etc...haha!  It will be one expensive Christmas tree, but I guess sometimes that is what you get for trying to make memories:) It was freezing tonight, but Natalie was good the entire time and was bundled up in her winter hat and coat. However, I did realize she needs some mittens!

Pictures to come later of our decorated tree once I get all the needed supplies tomorrow!

Preview to our LAST Christmas card photo shoot attempt. This was one of the "better" ones...haha!  Cards are ordered and should be mailed out by the end of this week hopefully though!
