Play Date

We were supposed to have a picnic playdate with Allison and Max (plus their mom Abbey), but it was a dreary, rainy, cool start to the day, so we didn't make it to the park. Instead, this morning the girls and I headed to the library for Music Makers storytime. I haven't been able to go to Mother Goose on the Loose for some time now because it is always on weekends we seem to be out of town, plus it's only one day a month. Most of the other storytimes are when I work, so I was excited that they added a Friday morning time. Today was the first Friday they started it for the Fall. The room was packed with kids (about 30 or more) and their parents/grandparents.

It always interests me how much Natalie seems to clam up in big crowds and becomes shy. She doesn't do this at daycare so I'm not sure if it's just with extra large groups or in unfamiliar places...could be both. She is still a little young to participate fully in the songs/dances, but she seems to enjoy herself anyway. Aubrey was awake and cooed during the class, so she must have had fun too listening to the music and stories, and watching the other little kids. This class was for 0-5 year olds, so the group was pretty diverse.

Afterwards, I headed to Tim's office (Abbey's husband) to pick up my 36 x 36 canvas that was finished. It looks awesome!  I can't wait for Bobby to get it hung and I'll take a picture to show. I just love it!

Abbey and I decided to take the kids to a play place to play and get some lunch. The only place we could think of was in the Kmart where Little Cesears is...

I had never been, but have known of some people that have gone and I can say with 500% confidence I will NEVER be returning! The place was filthy and disgusting. When we got there, the restaurant portion wasn't even open (opened shortly after). The tables in the play place area hadn't even been wiped off for who knows how long and the equipment was broken and taped up and was just gross!  We quickly decided to leave after washing the girls hands from who knows what they touched. There are a couple indoor places on the southside of town, but neither opened until at least 3 or 4 when school was out. So, we piled the kids back into our cars and headed back to downtown where we were originally and went to the children's museum.

We grabbed some lunch at the restaurant inside and overall the kids were excellent, but it was just taxing on Abbey and I lugging around the 2 kids. We decided that some day we are going to have Bobby and Tim take all the kids and not watch them at home, but actually go somewhere with them so they can be in our shoes for a day (or at least a few hours). I vote for Abbey and I to go to the spa or something...at least maybe get a pedicure?!  Girls' day or night for sure...

Poor Abbey had to clean up 2 poopy diapers...one being a blowout while we were at the museum. The girls had a lot of fun, especially at the water table, of course!  By the end of our time there, the girls were soaking wet and Natalie's pants kept falling down to her ankles since they were already too big, then add water to them and they would not stay up!  I think Abbey and I were ready for a nap by the time all was said and done, but it was a lot of fun.

After being at the museum, we got to thinking that there is possibly a play land area inside McDonald's on the northside, but since neither of us go on that side of town often, we wouldn't bet money on it...may have to check that out next time.
Out of all the toys to choose from, she wanted the books

Splashing water is SO much fun!

Say 'Cheese' or eat the rubber duckie

Not quite sure how their pants got soaked, but they were dripping with water by the end

Someone thirsty?!
When we got home, Aubrey got in some tummy time and was doing a great job holding up her head. I hope she starts getting strong enough to roll over soon.
