Natalie:
Natalie graduated from the Preschool swim class to Level 1. The preschool class is for ages 3-5. Natalie of course LOVES the water, unlike several of the kids that are more hesitant of the water. Natalie has no fear of the water, which is both good and bad. However, her swim teacher, Miss Jessica, felt she was ready to move up to Level 1 with her skills if we felt we were ready to move her up! I think we were both kind of surprised that she passed the preschool class just because she sometimes can act a little too crazy in the water. However, she is listening well to her teacher and of course she wants to splash in the water with her hands and her feet while she waits her turn, but what little girl who loves water wouldn't want to do that! She is floating for a couple seconds on her back on her own, swimming back to the wall by herself, pulling herself up on the wall without help, and starting to learn the freestyle stroke (needs a lot of work...hehe)!
She is learning a lot at her new preschool. She has started singing the continent song, but always leaves out Australia for some reason. She loves learning about muscles and skeletons. She is also getting really good about the days of the week and months. She still needs work on her colors and letter recognition, but is learning a ton. The other day while talking to my mom on the phone, my mom asked Natalie if she is going to go trick or treating, and Natalie responded very matter of fact, "Trick or treating, that's a sign of Autumn!" LOL, obviously she is learning about Autumn at school because I always call it Fall. :)
Aubrey:
She just got done with the Child/Parent swim class, and will remain in that class until she can move up to the Preschool level when she turns 3. If it wasn't for her age, she would be able to advance to the next level too. She also LOVES the water, but definitely has a mind of her own and will do what the teacher asks a couple of times, but then wants to just swim underwater...her absolute favorite thing about swim class! She now will jump off the wall all on her own! We will sign her up again at the next session which isn't until after Christmas.
Although Aubrey can't really tell me what she did at school...she always says, "I don't know!", we can tell she is learning a lot because she is talking more clearly and singing the ABCs more clearly. Her favorite color is 'yellow.'
She is definitely our strong-willed, dramatic child that we haven't quite figured out what discipline style is best for her because time-outs, spankings, having talks...just don't work. She is great at the eye roll already and is just a stinker.
