Austin | 5 Months

What are the chances that Austin turns 5 months on the same day that Natalie turns 5 years?!

...but first, let me eat your face...hehe!

Such a great big sister! Feeding him while Mommy cooks dinner.

I love watching Natalie and Aubrey interact with Austin. He gets an immediate smile on his face whenever he sees those two! I'm not sure if that's a good thing or not...I'll say good thing until he starts following their example. Haha.  These two girls sure do adore their baby brother!

New things for Austin this month:

- He can sit up for a little bit at a time without help.

- Transitioned him to formula. After his doctor appointment last month where he barely gained weight in a couple months and him waking up at least 2 times a night STILL, I decided I probably wasn't making enough milk, which didn't surprise me too much because every time I would pump, I barely got one feeding. As I started introducing formula, he seemed happier and slept better (he wasn't unhappy before, but hasn't been as fussy and is super laid back). He has gone a few nights sleeping through the night (6-7 hour stretches) or only waking up one time to eat. I really think he was just not getting enough. I'm sad that I couldn't breastfeed longer because I feel like that is best for our babies, but I made it to just barely 5 months and that's okay with me and will have to be since my body didn't cooperate. I tried different supplements/vitamins, drinking beer (for the yeast), Gatorade, etc, but nothing seemed to boost my supply. He's drinking anywhere from 5-6 ounces on average every time he has a bottle.

- We started to introduce him to rice cereal and a few foods, but after reading more about introducing babies to food, I decided to stop until he's 6 months old. He's a champ at eating though and had no problems. He's tried sweet potato, banana (small chunks), applesauce, and avocado. He hasn't disliked any of that, so I'm guessing he won't be a picky eater, so he'll fit right into our family!

- He is now sleeping on his belly for naps and at night. I always lay him on his back, but he quickly gets on his belly and prefers to stay there.

- He's enjoying being in the exersaucer and bumbo seat.

- Pulling hair (OUCH) or neck skin or whatever he can grab onto!

-He's holding onto toys much better and becoming more and more interactive every day.

I'm pretty sure he weighs 15 pounds, which is 2 pounds more than last month!

He's still in size 2 diapers and 6 month clothes.

He is still toothless.

Eyes are still bluish gray, but every once in awhile I feel like I see some brown specs. I don't think he will ever have brown eyes, but could possibly change to hazel like Natalie's.

Likes: Sitting in his bumbo seat, being talked/sang to, sleeping on belly, smiling, pulling hair, riding in his carseat, falling asleep in his crib with the light on and his crib sound/light machine on, watching his sisters play soccer.

Dislikes: Getting stuck when he's rolling, being left alone (not talked to or looked at) for too long.

He is pretty laid back these days and seems to be on a routine for the most part. He always takes 2 naps. Bedtime can vary. Sometimes he's asleep by 8, other nights it's not until 11p!
