Irish Dash 5K

Officially one year ago is really when I started all of this running!  Last year we did the Evansville 7K and it was super hilly and crazy hard for our first run. However, I've stuck with it and actually enjoy running (usually anyway)!

Rebekah and I ended 2013 with the Christmas in the Park 5K where we wore silly hats and started our running season for 2014 going even further with an Irish-inspired dress I found at JCPenney for $3!  There were supposed to be awards for the most Irish-inspired outfit and those that wore the most green, but sadly they didn't give anything out for those. However, we still had fun. Bobby was embarrassed to be around me...haha! He said I looked like a transgender Irish woman...ha!  I couldn't pass up the Irish mustaches...they were just too much fun!

The girls had fun hanging out with Eric while we all ran...thanks again, Eric!

My official time was 27:58 which puts me right at about a 9-min mile pace!  I'm happy with that. It was a out and back, flat course. That put me 2nd in my age division, so I got a fun medal!

Bobby (who rarely exercises/runs other than bball for 40 minutes on Tuesdays) finished at 24:19, which put him at 3rd in his age division. He also won a free pair of Brooks running shoes...no fair!  For me who is really trying to workout most days of the week and I had spirit with my costume for the run, is quite jealous of someone like him! :)

Oh well, it's about time for me to get a new pair of shoes too, so now we'll just have to pay for one pair instead of two!

After the race we grabbed a quick lunch, then headed out to the parade. It was our first time ever going to the parade since we have lived in Terre Haute and it was fun. Natalie really enjoyed gathering all of the candy she could!  Aubrey enjoyed eating it!  After the parade, we headed to the very crowded park since it warmed up to be a beautiful day.

This dog was very entertaining to watch!

It was a great family Saturday!
