Natalie has been "potty" trained for awhile now, but refused to poop on the potty. She even got to the point that she would only poop at night after we put her diaper on for the night. It was SO annoying, especially on top of how awful she makes bedtime since she NEVER wants to sleep. Over Thanksgiving weekend, she had a couple accidents and my mom and sister sat in the bathroom with her for a LONG time at times to get her to poop on the potty. We have tried bribing her with food, staying up longer, and finally telling her we would go to the toy store and pick out ANY toy she wanted! We have been trying these bribes for months it seems!
Well, finally on Sunday evening, she pooped on the potty!!!! We were so excited for her and us! :) Our friend, Rebekah, was over while this was happening and could not really believe how excited we were about poop...haha! She doesn't have any kids yet, so we made sure to explain that soon she will see how exciting these "odd" moments will be to her too! It really is amazing how excited we get about these "little BIG" moments now that we have kids. You didn't know poop could be so exciting, did you?! Now Bobby says he will be happy when she can wipe herself well...lol!
Since she went potty late at night, I told her we would go to the store on Monday (today). We headed to ToysRUs (should have went to Walmart...less selection and lower prices!). She would always tell us she was going to pick out a "princess present," but to our surprise, that is not what she picked out. We covered the entire toy store and she got to play with and touch many toys. She saw the big display of the movie Frozen and kept saying, "I watched that show!" (more on that in the next post) However, she didn't want anything from the movie. We headed to the baby dolls and princess toys, but still she kept saying she didn't want to take any of that home. I thought for sure she would want the talking Ariel, but she didn't, just liked playing with it in the store.
Then, came the Dora section. She saw a Dora and Me dollhouse and told me that is what she wanted. It wasn't even out of the box, so she was just going off of the picture on the box. We walked around a bit more and she played for awhile with the Thomas train table, but again, that was not good enough. Instead, back we went to the Dora dollhouse and again that is what she wanted! So, that's what we got! I even tried to steer her away from it since it was $50 and tried to talk her into letting me order it and having it delivered, but she wanted to play with it at home, and since we did promise her a toy if she pooped on the potty, I spent the extra money and got it so we could reinforce her "big girl" moment. She played with it for a long time when we got home and played with it again once Bobby got home from work. She loves it! We are so proud of her! Way to go, Natalie!
