Indy Mini Weekend

Finally feeling better after being sick for the last 2 weeks!

With Natalie being at my mom and dad's house, I did not get anything I wanted to get done but I was able to nap and rest for the most part while being sick, which may be more important than anything else I guess. Bobby was able to go golfing one day after work with the guys which I'm sure he enjoyed. We were able to fit in a date night: dinner (at Olive Garden) and a movie (American Reunion).

Aubrey Update: I had a doctor appointment on Friday and the doctor told me I am 50% thinned out and 2cm dilated. With Natalie, I stayed 2-3cm dilated until I was induced, so I'm not holding my breath that Aubrey will come earlier than her due date, but hoping!

Then, Friday, we headed up to Indy for Bobby and Rebekah to pick up their race packets, check-in at the hotel, and then go to dinner to finally see our sweetheart, Natalie!

Traffic/parking in downtown was crazy with everyone picking up their race packets, but we were able to pick them up and then head to the northside of Indy to eat at Macaroni Grill so Bobby and Rebekah could get their carbs in for the race.  We met up with my parents and Matt/Amanda. Natalie was good at dinner and is a bread-a-holic!  I think she ate her weight in bread during dinner...haha!  We definitely missed her and she looked like she had grown a ton in just the 5 days we hadn't seen her! She got to see/do a ton while up at my parents house, and they enjoyed it just as much as she did! I cannot tell them thank you enough...love you both!

I obviously did not do the race this year, but this weekend completely exhausted me! Rebekah, Bobby, and I stayed downtown at The Conrad Hotel on Friday night (we weren't originally going to stay but since Rebekah's husband couldn't go, we stayed to keep her company and it worked out well). I slept awful because Bobby hogged the bed and kept his elbow on my head basically the entire night, but since I knew he needed his rest, I was a good wife and just dealt with it! Morning came early (6:00am) and I felt like I had walked the Mini being almost due (2 weeks left) and walking from the hotel to the finish line to meet up with my family!

Bobby and Rebekah Pre-Race

...and they're off!

Grandpa entertaining sleepyhead!

I had her shirt made for the race and it said: "Go Daddy, Go! My Daddy's faster than yours!"
Natalie didn't quite make it to seeing Daddy finish

Wearing Daddy's medal which she later threw on the ground...oops!
Just like last year, the Mini allows you to track runner's through text and email, and this year Facebook (Bobby didn't know I did this and was not very happy since he didn't do too well). I got really good seats on the bleachers, one of the few that were shaded. It was nice weather for spectators, but got really hot for the runners. As I was getting updates on my phone about Bobby's pace, I knew that something was up when it texted me when they reached the Yard of Bricks on the Indy 500 track that his pace was 9:00 minutes/mile and he wanted to be at a sub-8 minute pace. Then, I got a text a little later from him that said he was walking because he hurt is knee/quad. He had injured it a couple weeks ago when he did a 13.1 mile training run. I really felt bad for him because I knew his goals this year and I knew how disappointed he was going to be, but he finished strong and finished running. Although his time was nowhere near what he wanted it to be, we were all proud of him for finishing! Bobby ran with our friend, Matt, who was sick as well, but finished a little before Bobby, then Rebekah finished later as well.  Natalie was a tired girl during the race, but overall did pretty good, but definitely needed a nap, but with so much going on, she only got a short one in!

After the race, Bobby, Rebekah, and I headed back to the hotel, they got in the huge hot tub (I stuck my feet in) and got to use the steam room, which was good for both of their sore muscles. Afterwards, Bobby and I headed to Matt and Amanda's house for their housewarming party. Natalie took a 4 hour nap that I had to wake her up from...she was obviously exhausted. The party had a good turnout and we had a good time. Sunday was another early morning! We (Natalie and I) got up at 6am, Bobby of course got to sleep a little longer and we headed to downtown to pick Rebekah up, then headed back to Terre Haute to go to church and then our small group cookout. It was a very warm day with the high at 87...I'm glad I will not be pregnant during the summer because I would be miserable.

After the cookout, we headed home and Natalie fell asleep in the car. She took a 4 hour nap again! I took full advantage of it, as did Bobby! It was nice to be able to nap after an exhausting, busy, but fun weekend!

Now back to Mommy duties and awaiting the arrival of Aubrey!
