Fun in the Sun

Today, we headed to Indy to meet up with my mom and sister to take the girls to Splash Island in Plainfield. None of us had ever been, but figured it would be a good time since Natalie LOVES the water.

The park was fun, small and clean, and the most important thing is Natalie had a blast!  Aubrey slept the whole time except for when she wanted to eat. I am getting pretty good at standing up while feeding her since I had to feed her in the bathroom, in the shower stall. I'm pretty surprised at how many places are not breastfeeding friendly, especially family places. I never really paid attention with Natalie, since it was never really an issue. Now I understand why there are occasional flash mobs of breastfeeding mothers at establishments, to make awareness. So far, the only places I have encountered that accomodate mothers are the doctor's office, St. Joseph County 4-H fair, church (which I haven't used yet, but know they have a special area), Holiday World (haven't used, but know they have an area), and the Indianapolis Children's Museum (which I never found, but could have asked). That's it off the top of my head.

I got a few pictures from our day, but I wish I would have gotten some of us in the "lazy" river or 'lazy susan' as my mom kept saying today...haha!  There wasn't anything very lazy about this river, it was actually pretty fast. The thing I really liked about it was they had double inner tubes that had one side with a bottom instead of a hole, so Natalie or other small children could have a safer place to sit while still feeling 'independent.' The hole would fill up with water, so it was like Natalie's own little watering hole. She enjoyed sticking her face in the water and blowing bubbles as well. Our last lap around at the end of our day, she was acting very relaxed. I was just thinking she was getting sleepy, but as I went to take her out, I quickly realized she had pooped, and although she had a swim diaper on, it didn't do to well keeping it completely contained. Thank goodness for the enclosed hole on her side because I was able to quickly get her out, along with the tube and not get the water park closed down because my kid pooped in the water :/

There were really lots of things to do for all ages. They had 3 slides and while my mom had the girls, Amanda and I decided to go down the slides. Well, I only made it down one because as soon as I got to the emptying pool, the water pushed me forward as I slid off the slide into the water, and I busted my knee on the bottom of the small pool...ouch!  I limped out, and was done with 'adult' playtime!

What Aubrey did during our fun day in the sun!

No fear
