Today, we headed back to Terre Haute from South Bend because I had my postpartum follow-up appointment.
It was another hot one today with the high reaching 105 degrees! It's supposed to continue to be that hot until Sunday and then go back to the 80's! Thank goodness because I cannot stand anything past 90 degrees unless I'm in a pool all day long! I have a feeling this weekend the girls and I will be spending a lot of time indoors!
My check-up went well even though I had to wait almost an hour in the waiting room! However, unlike normal appointments where you wait forever in the room for the doctor, this time she came in right away! However, once the doctor was screening me for postpartum depression, I just broke down crying. I hate crying in front of people, but it was nice to talk to her for a bit because she has gone through the same thing recently since she now has a 6 month old and a 4 year old. After talking with me, she didn't think I had postpartum depression, but wants to readdress it when I go back in 2 weeks to get my Mirena. The Mirena is good for 5 years, so I guess if we decide to have another kid (which I am not even considering at this point), we have plenty of time to decide.
I do have to admit that while I was sitting in the waiting room with several pregnant ladies, it kind of made me sad that my plan is to never be pregnant again, but then I got a text from Bobby telling me basically that I better get home quick because Aubrey was hungry and crying and turning beet red because she was so mad and Natalie was not listening! Aubrey had eaten 2 hours prior, but she should be able to last at least 3 hours. Although, it is not funny, I did have to laugh a little bit with Bobby's text message to me because he was dealing with what I have to deal with every day for much longer than 2 hours each day! I know it is not fun at all to be in that situation, but I am glad that Bobby got to experience it for a bit, especially since he gets to go have some fun tomorrow and won't be home much since he has a golf outing, doing lights at the church, and then softball. Must be nice!
By the time I walked in the door, Aubrey was quiet and Natalie was in her "baby jail" with toys. She had lots of gas according to Bobby, so I'm sure her stomach was hurting. I can't wait until her next doctor's appointment in a couple of weeks to address her gassiness and colicky ways! Although what I have researched says a mother's diet does not affect the baby while breastfeeding, I have also found a diet called the 'Elimination Diet' that may help. After reading what I can and can't have, I have basically been eating everything on the 'don't' side of the page. Looks like I'll be having a lot of fun eating...not! However, if it works it will be worth it.
Now, off to the grocery store tomorrow to find stuff I can eat. Won't that be fun with 2 kids tomorrow :)
