Sunday night the girls and I headed up to South Bend to stay at my parents house until Friday. I wish we could have just stayed the whole summer. It was so nice to have an extra set of hands this week. My mom and I had hoped to get more done than we did, like starting our training for the 5k we signed up for in July, but even with 2 sets of hands, the days went super fast taking care of the 2 girls.
We got to see friends and family that we otherwise probably wouldn't have seen for awhile, so that was nice. Seeing them all made me really rather live up there than Terre Haute because it seems as though we are always going up for a reason so getting together with friends and some family is just not doable with our other engagements.
Natalie got just as spoiled as Aubrey. I think almost everyone that brought Aubrey a gift, they had a couple for Natalie as well! Natalie really had fun playing with some friends she hasn't seen in probably 6 months or so. She also had fun playing with the play kitchen that Amanda and I grew up playing with. That kept her entertained for a long time.
We made a trip to Target, which was interesting because there was no way I would have been able to do it by myself with their carts. Natalie was too young to sit in the giant stroller that has kids seats completely separate from the cart and in order to fit Aubrey's carseat in the cart, I wasn't able to keep the seat available for Natalie to sit in. So, my mom took a cart, as did I. You will not be seeing me toting around 2 carts throughout the store, plus controlling 2 kids...life is getting interesting! We also made a trip Bobby's parents' house to visit and play. Today, we stopped by the Strawberry/Potato Creek Festival in North Liberty. I was even able to get a much needed haircut (I think it had been 6 months since I had one) while my mom watched the kids...I decided to get it chopped off.
Although Natalie had a few meltdowns she was very good and had a great time playing, swimming, and visiting. Aubrey did not want to sleep very well at night, so I was able to get maybe 2 hours of sleep at a time, and last night I only got probably 4 hours total all night long, which made the drive back to Terre Haute today a sleepy one. I cannot wait for Aubrey to start sleeping better...I. NEED. SLEEP!
Speaking of the drive today, we made it to about Westfield (2 hours into our 4 hour drive) and not Aubrey (who I assumed I would have to stop for) but instead Natalie was the one throwing a fit! So, we stopped by Aunt Amanda and Uncle Matt's house for a stretch break and a feeding break for Aubrey. I think Aubrey would have probably made it the whole trip, but Natalie would not take a good nap in the car for some reason. I'm thinking when we go to North Carolina in October that we may instead put Natalie forward facing and see if that helps at all because she used to do so good in the car...or hopefully we are just going through a phase and she gets better by then.
As I was driving I was thinking...how in the world, if I am by myself driving with the girls, do I go to the bathroom with both of them? I can't leave them in the car and I definitely can't hold Aubrey and expect Natalie to just stand there in the stall with me. So...I guess if I ever have to go to the bathroom in that scenario, I'll just have to hold it...haha!
I have lots of pictures to share since we were gone for awhile.
